The well-known Kintaro Hattori an entrepreneur opened a watch shop (selling and repairing watches and clocks) in central Tokyo. In 1892, after opening for 11 years, he established the 'Seikosha' factory.
130 years later, the innovation Kintaro Hattori’s company is still making high-quality watches.
In 1892 Kintaro Hattori bought a disused factory in Tokyo and Seikosha was formed (In Japanese, "Seiko" means "exquisite", "minute" or "success" and "sha" means house). This is where Kintaro Hattori produced his first clocks and the beginning of the successful reputation recognised by the world.
Seiko watches and not many of the younger generation knows about Seiko unless you have lived and live in Japan.
As someone who has lived in Japan for a long period, I own a few Seiko watches and I appreciate the value of these beautiful watches.
